It can't be set to open source - open source apps will not be approved to the software center. We've specified proprietary just so it gets approved.
This is very serious if it is true, however are you sure? There are hundreds of apps with the Open Source license such as: https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/qtodo/ https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/blender/ https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/virtualbox-qt/
It seems approvals do take time though.
If you look at http://zaneswafford.com/spindl/ Spindl it uses an Apache License and is commercial? So am I missing anything here?
@xrx- Those apps are added via the official software repositories. @bigfatbird Not sure about Spindl. But does it really matter in the end? As long as you can get the source and it's stated in the License, it's fine?
Well I don’t really care about it but I just wanted to sort this out. ;)
This isn't anything to do with the code per se, but the Nitro entry in the Ubuntu Apps directory has it's license as "Proprietary". This may put a lot of people off Nitro.

Since it's BSD licensed, it should really be set to Open Source.
