TrayIcon / Indicator #63

Having a tray icon would be nice.

It should show the number of task scheduled for today and maybe have a option to minimize the main window into the tray.

krnekhelesh commented 12 years ago

Building on top of this, for Ubuntu please consider Unity support. You can display the number of tasks for today using Unity API. You can find more information at

  1. developer.ubuntu.com
  2. Sample code at http://mhall119.com/2012/03/hello-unity/

The second link shows clearly how to do this in a simple manner.

I've tried adding Unity support. I need to create a gtk3 blob because pywebkitgtk only works with gtk2.

consindo commented 12 years ago

Oh, Unity support came in 1.4. Do you still need the indicator?

krnekhelesh commented 12 years ago

You should probably get a poll going in Omgubuntu blog to see what the community thinks of it...I personally find no need for an indicator since the launcher icon serves me well. However I have the launcher shown always....some others having the launcher to autohide might appreciate the indicator.

O-Gopal commented 12 years ago

A poll would be good. My launcher does autohide, so for me an app-indicator would be most helpful.

didli commented 11 years ago

I would like to see it too, as I use xubuntu without unity (but with some unity indicators applet)

O-Gopal commented 11 years ago

An indicator would be helpful, for me almost essential. (I keep my launcher hidden. And the launcher, anyway, is a bit clunky.) An indicator would make Nitro at once accessible.

Yes, an indicator (maybe integrated in messaging menu) would be great

+1 for the tray icon.
