Currently, you can ignore files by name pattern. This works well for single files or file types (by file extension). A usage pattern (not recommended) may be a folder with pictures that may grow indefinitely over time but for which not all files are to be tagged (e.g. animals of which you want to tag only the best).
If you tagged the folder and then used the ignore pattern "." in order to prevent errors, there is no way to know which pictures were added later. If there was a way to say ignore files with creation timestamp before 2019-07-13 more recent pictures would be marked as errors, could be inspected for tagging and if you are done, the ignore timestamp is simply updated.
