Question: Logo copyright issues #19

I am not sure about logo copyright. Can we just add, hoping they will be happy we list here? Or we should use default logo until we have owner permission? Or ask owner to make a PR to have proof he is listed here by own choice?

I am not a lawyer, but my understanding is that usage intended to educate, inform, and express opinions is legal, however if we used a trademarked logo to make it appear like they endorsed some product, project, or whatever we provided, then that would be a trademark issue.

My understanding further is that the same applies to copyright in this case, but I am absolutely not a lawyer.

A real issue might be the usage of the NixOS logo in the header, I'll have to investigate if they have logo usage guidelines, but then again I imagine if it was a problem someone would tell us in a very friendly way. But still a very important issue to iron out!

It's fine to use Cachix logo.
