I was just referencing this projects stance on POSIX compatibility when my grammar checker pointed out the flaw. :smile:

First of all, thanks for your interest in the shell.

However, I honestly believe this falls into one of the few exceptions to the verb/noun rule for affect/effect. See This post from Merriam-Webster's section on "A Few Rare Exceptions". Specifically, we're talking about changing the design of the shell here (one day).
