Hide options in sidebar don't work as intended #172

What is the problem? Describe completely:

Various hide functions on the sidebar don't appear to work as intended.  For 
example, when I hide chat, chat actually changes from being minimized in the 
sidebar to being shown.  When this occurs, it makes my Quick Links impossible 
to access.  Perhaps Quick Links is being identified as Chats and hidden?

When I hide invitees, the text and buttons to invite people are hidden, but I 
don't reclaim the real estate in the sidebar, so it can't get used for showing 
tags.

Disregard my invitees re-sizing item.  I realized that there is a handle to 
drag down to reclaim the space.  The other, regarding chat, still applies.
