Highlight on Vertical Split #183

What is the problem? Describe completely:

With the highlighting on for starred items, ect.  The email subject and excerpt 
is not highlighted when the layout is set to vertical split. 

Minimalist version   0.5.20
Relevant core module -
Chrome version       16.0.912.77
Operating System     Windows XP
Language             English
Google Apps user?    No
Other extensions     -

Please provide any additional information below and attach screenshots if
relevant.
