I think I've run into a similar problem. Everything seemed to go fine, but upon completion and the "Welcome to Pantheon" message, Ctrl-Alt-Shift-Forward/Backward does nothing. I should say that I'm trying to do this on an LG Chromebase, so a ChromeOS device but not a Chromebook.
The installation log lost in the mists of the rear view mirror, I tried to repeat the installation process to see what would happen and got the following in case it offers someone clues about what went wrong.

Any help in figuring out what went wrong?
Not sure if bumping is allowed but I seriously would like this issue resolved. Kind of ridiculous that this issue seems to be so common without any support or help
Sorry for such a late response. I think that the person who created this stopped supporting the project, however I'll attempt to resurrect it. I used to have this problem as well. To fix it install chromebrew(can be found on github) and then run it via cd /usr/local/ && mkdir elem && cd elem && git clone https://github.com/njradford/my-dear-watson.git && cd my-dear-watson && sudo sh warson.sh
Hi there, I'm trying to install Elementary via crouton on my HP Chromebook 14. The install seemed to go ok but when I try to start Elementary with sudo startelementary the screen goes black for a moment before I'm returned to the shell with the following output.
I have had Ubuntu running on this machine before but really want to give Elementary a go so any advice you can offer would be a great help. Thanks in advance
Andy
