fix getting and storing token #11

sorry, it looks like i broke getting/storing the token with my previous PR

Ah, maybe that's why I was unsuccessful in running the tests.

At some point need to consider how to move to a more recent release of Erlang/OTP, as I believe some API has changed with respect to the public key functions.
