HardwareGrowler causing long shutdown times :( #613

On shutdown screen i see 

com.growl.hardwaregrowler.GNTPClientService  244 PID is still valid
com.growl.hardwaregrowler.GNTPClientService  244 Killability: dirty/idle-exit 
supported

this messages goes on for about 12 to 15 seconds.

here is one of the logs from console (I have many of those)

I am running latest version of hardwaregrowler (2.1) on OS X 10.8.5 with 
supplemental update 1.0

is there work around for this?
