Overall, it looks good to me. I have two thoughts:

  1. Is it possible to suppress some of the C++ warnings?
  2. Can you link to the vignette where it says "a new vignette"?

Most warnings are not seen by users with regular Makevars so updated (and removed the repeated progress bars manually).

I'm assuming it is way too late in Europe so I will push this now.
