We have to have two Emily Dickinson witnesses because Dickinson wrote at least one of the poems in this collection in a different way in a letter. So we're introducing some new members of our <listWit>:
@xml:id="df16" is used to indicate Emily Dickinson's version of a poem in fascicle 16
@xml:id="df21" is for the poem Dickinson wrote in the letter to Sue.
In the <app> markup in the body of the poem, you can mark the different Emily Dickinson witnesses like this:
#df16 #df21#df21var0`#df21var1 (etc)
We can keep using var0, var1, var2 because by themselves we can assume those refer to the versions of the poems in fascicle 16. Hope this works! (Detail added later by ebeshero)
