Although I never got around to doing newer Debian and Ubuntu packages, I was thinking of submitting the packages to Debian, but due to issues with the system strongswan and xl2tpd packages, I decided to wait.
I'm not a Debian or Ubuntu user myself, if someone wants to maintain the Debian packages, i'll be more than happy.

I would prefer not to merge a partially debianized git repository into this one and prefer a solution where they were separate. Much like with the other NetworkManager VPN plugins on http://git.gnome.org and for example https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-utopia/network-manager-pptp.git .
