As with the legacy version of this extension, press ctrl-w when no additional tabs are open will not minimise Thunderbird (17), but simply exit the application.

The issue still persists in Thunderbird 38.4.

It also occurs when you close the last tab in a Firefox (43) window by Ctrl+W, clicking the X button on the tab, or middle-clicking the tab.
