Modify Display Using Remote and IR Receiver

The display currently cycles through a predetermined list of real-time stock information every few seconds. A remote and IR receiver would enable the user to change program information on the fly. Examples of how this could be used are as follows:

• Add new stocks and reject new entry if it does not exist
• Delete existing stocks
• Scroll forward or backward through entries
• Toggle between simplified view with current stock price and a detailed view
• BONUS: Toggle between graph mode showing previous history where min_y and max_y are low and high stock prices respectively

After trying out two different IR receivers (VS1838/VS1838B) it appears that the ESP-12E is not capable of driving another component on-top of the Nokia5110 and RGB LED. The lights for the existing components dim when connecting the IR receiver. I will investigate low-power solutions, but until then this feature will have to be put off.
