During these calls, try to assess people's experience with GitHub. We don't want to bore experienced users and we do want to welcome first time users.
We decided to raise this in a conversation rather than sending a poll that might alienate/ put up a barrier for some folks assuming we have an expectation.
From coworking doc
Do a survey ahead of time, what is your experience and comfort with GitHub. No experience required; only fine tuning our focus. (You don’t have to be a coder to interact with how your team is doing, respond to issues, want to see what’s happening with the people on your team. And how version control helps you understand what has been happening with the project.). Please respond to these 2 questions Have you ever used GitHub before; have you used it for project management, version control, etc
Idea: I'm thinking that with the big group this fall, we can adapt the 1:1s to be small groups. It would be nice for people to be able to easily choose and join a single 25-min slot. And then when they join, there are a few others/small group there too and we all meet each other.
Tech side: I am not sure how it will work with the Google appointment slots, because I believe those disappear once someone books them. Maybe we will have to set these up as individual calls with separate Google Meet links.
We met >50 participants over 8 calls! Lots of enthusiasm. Folks are fully ready to participate and feel like they have supervisors' support
