source file builds even if filename is incorrect in gyp

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create a source file like hello_world.cc
2. Add a gyp source entry as hello_world.c
3. Use GYP_GENERATOR=make
4. make

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It shouldn't build. Since gyp has the wrong file path.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
It builds on linux but not on windows and mac.

Please provide any additional information below.
