I think issue should be tracked here, since it has numbers
This issue should not be fixed in my opinion, here's my reasoning that I shared on discord:
"I just saw the duplicate of this post: https://github.com/nmrih/source-game/issues/685 IMO it shouldn't be fixed at all, the backwards moving speed allows for some cool techniques when using melee weapons, such as killing shamblers quickly with the hatchet/machete using uncharged hits while crouching, to regain more stamina while you are being cornered. I've used it many times in hard maps while playing nightmare, since killing shamblers takes a while. I got cornered in nmo_urbanhazard and that technique saved my ass there.
It also aids in killing shamblers normally, since it allows you to backpedal faster to avoid hits and at the same time regain stamina a bit faster.
I think we shouldn't focus on fixing small "issues" or minor details if they provide some more depth into the gameplay and makes it more complex or more fun. Realism should not be a priority over fun at all, it's a game after all."
"It doesn't break the gameplay at all, it's just a small cool mechanic that if you get to dominate it, you will play more efficiently and you could survive many dire situations like I mentioned before, I've also used it nmo_broadway2 when getting cornered near the supermarket"
My proposal is to keep the backcrouching speed the same and make the forward crouching speed slightly faster
It should just be left unchanged. If you have the same movement speed while crouching regardless of direction, then then dominating the crouched melee attacks becomes too easy.
As pointed out above, current backpedal speed allows for some cool melee mechanics. I'd not change it.
Closing cause the mechanics are cool the way they are
While testing I noticed that the backpedal speed for crouching isn't proportional: Forward walk velocity: 116 Backpedal walk velocity: 58 Forward crouch velocity: 49.3 Backward crouch velocity: 58
This ties into the ironsighting bug in that crouching speeds are messed up. Doesn't make much sense to me that backpedaling while crouched is faster than walking forward while crouched, and especially while having ironsights.
My proposal to fix backpedal speeds: Forward walk velocity: 116 Backpedal walk velocity: 58 Forward crouch velocity: 50 (make it an even number like the rest and easier to split) Backward crouch velocity: 25 (half of the forward crouch, just like how backpedal walk is half the speed of forward walk)
