After kindle for PC was updated today, can't remove DRM. #592

Question / bug report

I let kindle for pc update itself, then downloaded one ebook from the ones i bought on the windows app. Then i picked up the file and transferred it to calibre. It showed as kfx-zip. I have the latest nodrm drm plugin 10.0.9. I run calibre 7.16.0 on windows 11. I also have kfx input plugin 2.15. I don't know if you have the same issue, the update was made in the last hours.

However, from my contents and devices, it's still possible to download azw3. Just not from kindle for pc.

This was downloaded with Kindle for PC which is on the same computer and user as calibre/DeDRM?

Not sure what the issue is because that book should not have the hardened DRM that DeDRM cannot handle. If you can use one of the methods for downloading the book in non-kfx format, it will already be DRM-free.

I just wanted to ask if there was anything I could've done to dedrm the ebook got through kindle for pc. It happened after the last update of the app, so I think it's a issue.

Could be that's the issue. The version which can currently still be downloaded from Amazon is 2.4.0 (KindleForPC-installer-2.4.70904.exe). That was reported as working with DeDRM 10.0.9 and KFX Input, but looks like yours updated to a newer version.

Yeah, it works. It's obvious there's a discrepancy between the automatic update on the app and the version of the app downloadable from the website. I suggest you don't rely too much on that, but on the update.
