Close to end of FY2023, have discussion with FIMS implementation team about FIT and FIMS relationship

We had a discussion at about how FIT and FIMS relate to one another at the Aug 2023. Right now, we don't feel that we are duplicating effort by working on FIT and FIMS, but did note some synergies:

• FIT and FIMS both need to think about tool quality
• There are questions with upcoming stock assessment whether FIMS should be used or a new tool should be built, and not a clear answer.
• FIMS should be listed in the FIT soon (opened an issue on this)

Committee members also brought up the point that some tools may never be part of FIMS (e.g., protected species tools might not be part of the FIMS ecosystem, which is focus on fish assessment) so the need for FIT may persist, even with FIMS being used tactically. Clarifying and communicating where the FIMS boundary is may be something helpful for FIMS to do.

Given there isn't much duplicated effort between FIT and FIMS, not much action is needed and I will close this issue.
