I'm not sure we have the staffing to keep up with the news section. Perhaps a better replacement would be a "get help" button.

Other ideas for alternatives to news

Have a FIT newsletter at a set frequency (quarterly?). This would make it easier to make sure news is fresh.
Maintain the FIT calendar with events pertaining to the FIT (if there are enough events). Alternatively, add FIT events to the open science calendar?

Thoughts for alternative buttons on the homepage: an "Open Science at NOAA Fisheries" button with links to other organizations.

I think we could try doing a quarterly newsletter that is emailed out, and provide links to the newsletter on the "resources" blog. I think we can archive the "news" site.

News is now gone, and we are developing a communication plan as part of FY2023's strategic plan.
