We may need test both for their performance . The difference is that Sofiev uses FRP directly, and Briggs converts FRP to heat flux with a tunable ratio. Both of them originate from the same GBBEPX data.
Youhua
@ytangnoaa Thank you for the clarification, and I agree that we could test both to gauge impact. I am generating the met inputs for @dtonggmu and I can initially test with Briggs, and then we can work on Sofiev implementation, testing, and comparison. Hopefully this plan works for both of you. Thanks.
I have the Sofiev box model code ready. Youhua, do you want to implement it into CMAQ or we can ask Yunyao to do it?
If Yunyao can change cmaq5.3.1 to adapt it, it would save our effort.

@ytangnoaa and @dtonggmu If Yunyao could work out of a branch of this repository (NAQFC/MOD/src), it would make integrating the Sofiev plume rise into CMAQv5.3.1 much easier for all. Please let me know of Yunyao's github account name so I can add her to the NAQFC repo, which is currently private (i.e., only viewable our AQ-ARL group).
We may need to discuss this among ourselves how wide we want the access to be. I am fine with this but you may want to run this via Rick and others.
@dtonggmu OK, sounds good. Lets discuss this at our next bi-weekly Thursday Chemical Modeling and Emissions Group Meeting with Rick and Pius etc.
@ytangnoaa has added NAQFC/EMISS/gbbepx/ to repo.
should we add yunyao to the noaa-oar-arl organization. This would let her see our private repositories and allow her to work directly with them cutting out the middle man
We will need to implement GBBEPx emissions as 7th inline point source to CMAQv5.3.1.
