Current NAQFC has 35 layers that known to be too coarse in the PBL and near tropopause, so with increased speed of NACC-CMAQ we are enhancing to more vertical layers in PBL and near tropopause (e.g., 57 layers). Needs testing and evaluation. Will update here with results from initial testing.
