Document from Mike on Noah-MP land model spin-up
In each INPUT directory by date, the gfs_data.tile*.nc are the output from Step 1 and the sfc_data.tile*.nc are the output from Step 2 (Note, that Step 2 uses the sfc_* files from Step 1 and then replaces soil temperature, moisture and liquid).
The atm ICs are stored by date on hera here: /scratch2/NCEPDEV/climate/climpara/S2S/IC/GEFSwithNOAHMP
Ocean
ICs were created by Travis Sluka using a 3D var. Yan Xue’s overview presentation of 3Dvar (Same ICs used from P2 on)
Ice
Created from CPC ice analysis (Used from P3.0 on, see the procedure on how to generate them)
Waves
New ICs were created based on offline standalone wave runs forced by GEFS. (This document describes how ICs were created for CFSR but needs updating for GEFS)
