Case Details: Expt E1

This model run is the beginning of experiments for the prototype 7.1 runs of the UFS S2S model being developed at NOAA. The runs will all be designed similarly but with different configurations and levels of complexity. Currently, there is the ad-hoc plume rise method currently used in the model that distributes the emissions evenly within the PBL. A more sophisticated method will be implemented at a later time. The simulation will include dust, sea salt, oc, bc, sulphate, and nitrate aerosols with AOD being calculated in-line with the NASA lookup tables. Experiment E1. The simulations will take place during ATOM-1 (Jun - Aug 2016) and FIREx (Jun - Sept 2019). The configuration will be identical between the two periods. The only difference will be the beginning date and end date.

Please refer to the case file for the two experiments in the branch experiment/UFS_EXPT_E1

The purpose of these runs is to do a gross tuning of the model and begin a stable evaluation methodology for the UFS-Aerosol coupled model.

@zhanglikate what are the exact dates that you run for ATOM1?

@rmontuoro @gjfrost @lipan-NOAA @zhanglikate

I've been able to run a fully coupled model run with the feature/p7.1-gocart-dev branch. I'm going to generate some AEROSOL ICs for these runs (approx a 15 day spin up or something like that)

I'm also going to update the case files for them. @zhanglikate can you send me your atom1 case.yaml file?
