vyperdatum for vdatum conversion in the Alaska Region #43

@SorooshMani-NOAA and I are working on a mesh generation project in the Alaska domain based on two DEMs, however they are in different vdatums:

  1. GMRT bathymetry: Horizontal datum: GCS_WGS_1984, Vertical Datum: EGM96
  2. Cook Inlet High resolution bathymetry: Horizontal datum: EPSG:4326, Vertical Datum: MLLW

The goal is to convert both to MSL vertical datum. I have two questions regarding the feasibility of using vyperdatum for such conversion:

  1. Is this tool valid for the Alaska region? Domain boundaries attached below.
  2. MLLW is a predefined datum option in the vyperdatum. What would be the closest options for the EGM96 and MSL?
