question about MARINe data set #58

Hey @bbest & @mspector13 - question about the following file that is part of the rocky intertidal MARINe dataset: /Volumes/GoogleDrive/Shared drives/NMS/data/github_info-intertidal_data/sanctuary_species_percentcover.csv

What does the sp column refer to? Here are the first few lines of the output from the file:

Hey @superjai

I may be mistaken, but I believe "sp" refers to species present on the data collector's data sheet, whereas "sp_target" refers to the targeted species habitat. In other words, for the screen shot above, the data collectors were in a known Chthamalus balanus location (i.e. sampling within barnacle habitat) for a whole host of species (including something abbreviated to Antele in this case)

MARNe's protocol is different than most other sampling protocols that I'm familiar with. Let me know if this isn't clear and we can jump on a call
