Does not process images #130

Describe the bug After opening the ChimpStackr application, I loaded images (only loading 3 to 6 images as test) then used the menu or Ctrl-A to begin the alignment and stacking process. The notification "Started aligning and stacking images..." displays and goes away after a second or two. No progress bar is displayed or stacked image is created. The program continues to run and I can load other photos and use the menu bar as before, just does not appear to be processing the images in the queue.

Expected behavior At the point of starting processing, I expected to see a progress bar, then display of a created stacked image file name. Neither of those occur. If there was an error in processing or issue with user input, I would expect some form of error message telling what the problem is.

Desktop: Ubuntu 22-04.2 LTS

Additional context Running on a Dell Insperon 15-5510 Laptop, Memory: 16.0 GiB. Processor: 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-11370H @ 3.30GHz × 8. Graphics: Mesa Intel® Xe Graphics (TGL GT2) (no NVIDIA GPU and not using CUDA). The ChimpStackr application was installed from and by the Ubuntu Software repository.

Have been unable to determine whether the issue is my configuration or something missing in the installation.

One other "feature" I would like to see in the future is the ability to pull photos directly from other storage sources such as external drives or SD cards. The application doesn't appear to recognize the "media" directory in Linux, so can't access these directly, or have the ability to see these as separate storage entities.

On a personal note, I really like the light weight, simple approach to focus stacking, and I look forward having this software available in my photographic software darkroom. Keep up the good work on this. Please let me know if you need further information or I can answer any questions about this submission.

Hi

The program currently crashes when images with different dimensions are used. Maybe that's the cause of the crash? Perhaps there is something wrong with the alignment part. Can you try stacking without alignment? Also, I believe you're using the snapcraft package? Although it should be working, it is an older version than what is currently in the git repository. You could possibly try a different version of the snap or cloning the code from source.

I have the same problem here with Manjaro (also installed via snap), but I wasn't able to build the latest version manually.

All the best, Jakob
