I have just started using Power SDR on my Elecraft K-3. I freezes up after a
minute or 2 and I have to restart every time. I found that I can eliminate the
problem by changing the BAUD rate below 38400 and then it works fine. Am using
a new Dell Laptop P5 with 8 GB RAM. I also use the E-MU Tracker Pro II sound
card, and a Keyspan USB to Serial Adapter. using Windows 7 drivers for both
items.
any help?

I finally gave up trying to fix it and sold the IF2000, LP Pan, and EMU 0202.
After talking to the manufacturer, the new owner is sending the unit back to
TelePost. So now it looks like a hardware issue may have caused some of the
problems. With respect to Ron's comments, I always ran the serial interface at
9600 BAUD. Ron, the only thing I can suggest is that you see if your laptop
has anything going on in the background that is grabbing the processor(s) when
it should be crunching data in the ASIO stream or servicing the serial port.
You can check this by going to http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml
and downloading the free latency checker.
Sorry I cannot offer more help. With 20/20 hindsight, I should have shelled
out the extra $$$ for something like the SDR-IQ by RF Space and the version of
PSDR supported by Moetronics. BTW I still appreciate the time and effort WU2X
has *given* to everyone using his version, but he has a "real" day job and
family.

I get the "Input string was not in a correct format" under Windows 7, 64-bit. I
do wonder if it is because I had other versions of PowerSDR installed at
differnt times and it is finding something left behind by a previous version.

The latest: after un and reinstalling, pwr sdr and lp bridge it works!
Btw, I just noticed that lp bridge has an updated GUI. I had to be sure
And check that no redundant virtual port fields were checked. If they
Were, it would crash or lock up when I tried to 'start'.
I actually got the windows blue screen of death at one point!
Havent seen that in years!

Hi, all! I'm also have the BSOD problem in usin PSDR/IF under Windows 7, 64-bit.
Setup: IC-703; IF SDR by EU1ME
http://www.cqham.ru/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=78138&d=1300217588 ; HRD5
Crashes not stable.
First, PSDR encountered a problem and needs to close, followed by return to the
Win 7 desktop. The Task Manager shows no PSDR app running, but the PSDR process
cannot be stopped. The system blue screens within a minute or five, aperiodical.

Has anyone found an answer the the random lock and crash of PWRSDR IF on win 7
64bit?
FT2000/LP PN no preamp/ 202 USB sound card (beta drivers) /Prolifiv USB to
serial.
Random lock up and blue screen seems to be linked to freq changes, PWER IF
service cannot be ended with Task MAN (hardware should not lock this process).
If the process is allowed to continue without reboot it will cause video
corruption (like PAL signal) followed by blue screen dump.
Has anyone got this running with similar hardware??

For anyone with the problem still please consider these questions, to help us
understand the issue:
1. Does it happen when PowerSDR is idle, or do you have to be interacting with
PowerSDR actively to cause the fault?
2. Are you using a USB to serial port converter cable?
3. If the problem occurs when you aren't actively interacting with PowerSDR/IF,
then try to download a newer stock version of PowerSDR from FlexRadio (version
2.0.x) and see if you can duplicate your issue on that version. This is to
isolate the change to PowerSDR/IF. Also keep in mind they have been making
fixes for a year+ over 1.19.3, so it possible we get many Win 7 related fixes
when we pull in a new base version.
*** NOTE - Most if not all of these issues are causes by USB to Serial
converter cables. ****

1. No
2. No
3. The crashes happen in differnt modes
A. When interacting with the program. I can make it crash by changing
frequency by grabbing the spectrum window and changing frequency. The program
may freeze.
B. Click on the Setup window then click SetupIF then click the red X to close
setup. Click close program then Blue screen of death. If click Check
online... then it may not completely crash windows.
I will update this later but I just crashed PowerSDR-IF by doing the above and
I don't want to loose what I have written.

If I click "check online...." and I don't get blue screen then when I try to
restart the program I can not restart it. I click START and get a screen
refresh then START clears and the program stops.
I have also had a mode where it randomly sets the K3 to 0.5 or 54Mhz or the RIT
starts increasing until it maxes out at +9.99 but the main frequency display
stays stable.
I will try to figure out what actions precede these defects and update this
listing.

There seems to be a number of issues under Windows 7. However, it's not a Win7
issue but rather there seems to be many uncaught exceptions in the code base. I
have reviewed the new 2.0.x PowerSDR code base and had a look at the current
PowerSDR/IF code base. Many of the issues can be mitigated if the developers
catch the exceptions.
I have had PowerSDR/IF crash more than the current PowerSDR 2.0.x and GSDR
(Genesis Radio) apps on a consistent basis.
Likewise, CPU usage can be reduced it both PowerSDR and PowerSDR/IF were
switched to SlimDX to take advantage of the screen routines. GSDR saw a
substantial drop in CPU usage which left more for DSP processing.

I have continuous and random crashes of PowerSDR IF v1.19.3.5 on Windows 7
32bit! It doesn;t take much to crash -- just about any activity on the GUI in
or out of config will cause it, but inconsistent.
I was running the same version previously on XP SP3 and had no problems. It
seems it may be related to Cat Control of FT-2000 -- setting to tune polling at
100ms seems to cause it to be unstable, but setting it higher causes the
response between the radio and PowerSDr to be unusable. Also, tried various
baud rates, no joy.
