I am putting forward the idea of going to Smugglers Cove for this meeting. Rum rum rum rum rum.
also
/cc @dshaw @nexxy
well then, you have my interest. I believe I'm free on the evening of the 8th.
Also /cc @Frijol @SaraJo
So I've been thinking, part of me wants to put this up on meetup too to try and get more people involved. What does everyone else think?
Hmmmm… nodebots planning meeting drink up?
We can also do it at a restaurant or something to make it more inclusive to our under 21 hackers=
I like the idea of a restaurant too, for the reasons you mentioned. We can always transition to Smugglers Cove afterwards.
Yes! & agreed re let's do dinner (at least first). I'm out of town on the 8th, though– a later day would be better if possible
I'm down too, but not 1/8. SFNode's that night. http://www.meetup.com/sfnode/events/216733022/
How about the following Monday or Tuesday, the 12th or 13th?
The 13th sounds good to me!
I am most likely going to be in town for the Reactjs Conf end of NaN (whoops Jan). If there is any chance of dovetail than woot!

+1 for Tuesday 1/13
@bryan-m-hughes How pinned down is the soldering intro on 1/15. I'd be open to shifting January to the end of the month to allow us to host @voodootikigod. http://conf.reactjs.com/ 1/29 would line up.
@Frijol is there a good soldering friendly space in the city that you could recommend?
@voodootikigod \o/ sounds awesome! (I tried to get tickets to reactjs conf, but failed)
@dshaw, I was thinking the same thing. Bump soldering to February, if not later, shift January's meeting to the end of the month. @voodootikigod is there a specific day that would work best for you?
I have a space potentially lined up for us, depending on what date we arrive at.
@nexxy thanks for checking the space out. The next NodeBots event would be February 19th, can you check if the space is available then?
@dshaw Matt from SupplyFrame/Hackaday would probably be happy to host– I can ask if you want. It's good for ~20 people soldering
Y'all are always welcome out here in Berkeley, too, for a larger workspace
@bryan-m-hughes to be clear, is the event in February the one on Soldering? or a different focus?
@Frijol Thank you for the offer. Berkley's probably a bit of a stretch for regular sessions. We're always happy to help cross promote if you're running anything there though.
It would be great to connect with Matt at SupplyFrame/Hackaday for future events even if we are sorted for February.
@nexxy sorry, yes the one in February is the one on soldering.
@Frijol @dshaw maybe we could do a joint event in Berkely (or Oakland, get some of the Node.js folks over there to stop by) later this year. We can talk more at the planning event.
Confirmed for February 19:
Heavybit Clubhouse — http://www.heavybit.com/clubhouse
address: 325 Ninth Street, San Francisco, CA 94103
\o/ that space looks wonderful!
@Frijol, Perhaps we could host January with @voodootikigod there, what do you think? Will the space work well for a more lecture style meetup?
Which, Technical Machine or Supplyframe offices? Both can accommodate lecture style, but Supplyframe is probably more comfortable. We have a giant projector wall, picnic tables, and a couch, but not a lot of actual chairs.
For reference, our space: https://foursquare.com/v/technical-machine/535ea931498edf967bcb436c/photos (not shown: projector wall)
Supplyframe/Hackaday: http://instagram.com/p/sL2VBcJmQp/?modal=true (not shown: beanbag chairs)
also: @nexxy Heavybit looks amaazing.
@Frijol I think SupplyFrame will work better this time since it's in San Francisco. One of these days I want to make it out to Berkley to see your space though :)
@frijol I've actually mention this group to Alek before and I believe they'd (supplyframe) be happy to host. Also, there was a large stack of chair last time I attended.
@nexxy, does the 13th work for you too for the planning meeting?
As for a restaurant, how does La Trappe (http://latrappecafe.com/) sound? @TheAlphaNerd and I went there with a group for my birthday a few months ago, and they have really delicious food and can seat a large group.
Can we just eat at La Trappe??? I’ve been craving it!
The 13th should be just fine! I will put it on my calendar.
But in all seriousness, with the subtlest of arm twisting, I could be convinced to eat there again ;-)
OH MY GLOB
just blew my mind
Hey just a heads up I am definitely going to be there for reactjsconf would love to do at the very least a beer/food with the NodeBots SF crew. Let me know what works!! Cheers

@voodootikigod Will you be able to put together a talk for 1/29(ish)? Speakers choice on topics :) I think we would all prefer to make this the January meetup.
@Frijol (or @morganrallen) have you had a chance to get in touch with your contacts at Supply Frame about hosting yet?
I'll shoot Alek and Matt a message.

So it's all good for that date (29 Thur), also Supply Frame is happy to provide food and drink for the night.

@morganrallen fantastisch! Yes, lets have them supply food and drink.
I'll try and get the meetup event up tomorrow-ish.
The meetup page is up, although I haven't announced it yet (i.e. no one has been emailed). http://www.meetup.com/nodebotssf/events/219631092/
Let me know what you think! If everything looks good, I'll go ahead and announce the meetup.
quite a testament to live up to! hope to not let anyone down (and if I do, there is the bar afterwards right?)

Looks great.
San Francisco is the land of bars. I'm sure we can find something ;-)
If there are no further comments, I'll announce the meetup tomorrow morning (kinda late in the day right now IMO).
:+1:
So, the planning meeting is next week, what time would we like to meet? 6? 6:30?
Also, can you let me know if you plan to attend so I can get a head count?
6:30 sounds fabulous. I will be there! :smile_cat:
(La Trappe, right?)
:beers:
Let's do another planning meeting to get the next few months of meetups figured out. I suggest we do one in early January, perhaps January 8th? That is one week before the January NodeBots SF meetup on soldering.
We can host it at Rdio or Famo.us, but we could also chat over dinner somewhere and keep it casual (HT to @TheAlphaNerd for this idea).
