Proposals for this meetup? @samshull and I had a bit of a discussion last night and I was reminded of a project I'd like to get going. Using something like Blockly (https://code.google.com/p/blockly/) would make for a fantastic interface to get kids interested in programming. It could be used to introduce programming concepts in an easy to understand, visual form.
My original idea was to add this on top of my simple-sphero ( https://github.com/morganrallen/simple-sphero ) module. Question is then.. another Sphero talk? Any other ideas for a platform this could be added to?
Lastly should we take up @timfpark offer or has there been anything else lined up? Possibly recycling last months unused space..
Hey @morganrallen! We're actually hoping to do a 2-session SumoBot event, starting with a mini SumoBot assembly/programming event in February and then a SumoBot competition in March (coinciding with JSFest).
I'm working with @timfpark to see about getting the MS space, and once we have an official date lined up, @dshaw and I will get some sponsors :-)
So can we assume at this point the planning discussion have been moved offline and these issues are no longer relevant?
not at all! The SumoBot idea came out of the December event, and given the timing of JSFest, we thought it would be a fun idea to make happen.
There seemed to be a lot of interest for SumoBots by the crowd in December, so I'm hoping to make it happen. That said, I'm pretty strained for time, so if there's something folks want to do instead and are interested in organizing all the details, then let's do it! :-)
Hi All! Ok, the date for the next NodeBots meeting is set. We're going to be returning to Github (thanks @jlord!) on Feb 13th. 5:30pm social start and 6pm for the main event. Looking forward to seeing you all!
Sad to miss it this month, but I'm out in Chattanooga :)
Hi, I'm new to the city and this group. Is there an RSVP for the event? I can only find the listing for January. Thanks!
@mikeyoon just show up and have fun.
Here you go. http://lanyrd.com/2014/nodebots-sf-february/
And/or what @samshull said
@dshaw Microsoft can host the Feb meetup on the 17th and I can for-sure be there now. Do you want me to reserve the space (can hold at least 100 people) for that date?
