To follow current guidelines from GitHub & from the Software Conversavancy, the default branch of repositories should be main and not master.
Those guidelines stem from adjusting language to be more inclusive, with many resources on the web generally available to show why master is less preferred over main. (Here's a twitter thread for instance.)
GitHub made this change back in 2020 for all new repositories - it's a quick change in the admin settings on this repository & likely some change required for deployment, if deployment of docs is tied to the named branch master rather than just looking for changes to the default branch.
