80% of the world's corporate data resides on or originates on the mainframe. Inevitably, as Node.js's adoption becomes more pervasive, Node.js applications will need to interact with such enterprise data, services and transactions. This talk will walk you through our journey in developing a Node.js-based portal to interact with an existing Java EE stock trading application and database hosted on IBM's Big Iron. We'll discuss how we leveraged the Node.js platform to deliver real-time stock prices and twitter updates, and how we achieved even higher performance and security by co-locating our Node.js application with the stock trading data and services.
