We only have a note on the "previous releases" page, which is pretty much buried:
Releases 1.x through 3.x were called "io.js" as they were part of the io.js fork. As of Node.js 4.0.0 the former release lines of io.js converged with Node.js 0.12.x into unified Node.js releases.
Really non of my business by I can't fathom why such a misleading state of affairs is kept online rather than fixing this disinformation ASAP by coming clean :) on the website's main page. Nothing to be ashamed of...
Just wanted to mention that from the average newbie-user's point of view it might be much clearer if she was permanently redirected to something like nodejs.org/iojs
where she would be explained official io.js status. Current "diversity" really doesn't look too user-friendly, IMHO.
We should mention this on the website.
