Applescript not perfect solution #1

Faceless application written in Cocoa would be better solution. However, Finder's plugin environment not publicly available. But key combination might be possible.

You could use a Quicksilver trigger to assign a keyboard shortcut to run the script. You could also use an application like FastScripts, which will also allow you to assign a keyboard shortcut to run the script.

Another option might be to save the script as an application and add it to the Finder window toolbar, for quick and easy access.
