Emergency lighting #247

it would be good if we had illuminated exit signs, but would also be good if there was some battery backup lights in the space... We aren't the most tidy, and when the power goes out, there are many hazards

croepha commented 2 years ago

Apparently there already exists some emergency exit signs, I suppose these just need to be troubleshooted

croepha commented 2 years ago

at the Tuesday meeting, Loren/Mcint said he would work on this

lizzard commented 2 years ago

@mcint , The new in box signs are on the bottom shelf on the black shelves where the tshirts are! If you are around Friday afternoon / early evening I am planning to be in the space and work on stuff a little here and there and could help. I mean at least moral support and holding the ladder for you.

I'm looking at this tonight. I see exit signs up. If those are dead, I'll replace them. Otherwise I'm not sure where these should go.

mcint commented 2 years ago

The existing signs are lit. Using the test button does not put out the exit lights, but it also doesn't illuminate the wide area halogens.

Unless the EXIT lettering turned off during the power outage, this isn't needed. If we want the wide illumination emergency lights, we want a bigger battery. I'll check on power requirements of the halogen area lights and emergency requirements, and report.

Can someone speak to what prompted this task?

lizzard commented 2 years ago

I think a) we wanted to make sure the signs work when the power goes out, and no one had formally checked them all b) When the power actually went out a couple of weeks ago, I believe it was super dark and people had difficulty seeing to move around in the space, but someone who was there should be able to give more info (TJ maybe?)

lizzard commented 2 years ago

The test should be actually throwing the breakers to turn off power to the space

So there's quite a bit going on at the space, and while this is important, I am deprioritizing this in favor of some newer tickets to reflect what is actively being worked on
