GPT4ALL doesn't open on windows #1811

System Info

latest gpt4all version as of 2024-01-04, windows 10, I have 24 GB of ram.

Reproduction

try to open on windows 10
if it does open, it will crash after a second.

Expected behavior

I expect the program to open and not crash.

I have the same issue with the latest releases [v2.7.0] on two different PC (AMD Ryzen 7 5800U & AMD Ryzen™ Z1 Extreme). All PCs w/ Intel CPU that I have tested on work fine.

I solved this problem / issue at least in my case:

hey .. just an update for Windows users:

The reason ... why on windows chat.exe is opening in the task manager only but not opening the GUI seems to be an interference with AVG Antivirus software. After uninstalling it gpt4all version 2.8 pre opened with CUDA and everything!!

thus give it a try ... uninstall antivirus ... test chat.exe again ... reinstall antivirus

Have the same problem -windows 10, chat.exe is running and using one cpu core but nothing is displayed
