In media and folklore, there is a trope of animals being able to detect evil or bad things before humans can, e.g. "canary in a coalmine", ship's cats being believed to detect bad weather, etc. Having pets panic within a certain distance of a Wither Storm could be interesting to:
All pets refuse sit/stay commands and stand up on their own after a certain distance (should probably be a config)
Wolves howl and whine, cats hiss and spit, parrots scream and imitate the Wither Storm, horses and other tamable equine animals squeal and roar
Agaited animal noises increase in volume, intensity, or frequency the closer the Wither Storm is
If redstone alarm systems are present, I think the tradeoff between pet detection and redstone detection is portablity/range- pets being more portable but having a shorter detection range, and redstone being less portable but having a greater detection range.
Could also be a pet enchantment for Domestication Innovation if this detection ability is overpowered for all pets to have from the get-go; enchantment levels increase detection range.
