FHL Financial Aid Finding adequate financial aid to cover expenses at a field research station can be a daunting task for a student, so we have a very simplified process for ALL students taking our courses. In the application process there will be a section about financial aid that will prompt three answers from you (keep course costs in mind):

Do you require financial aid to attend FHL? Financial aid request in USD $? If you’re applying for financial aid, please leave a short description of your current need. We are particularly interested in understanding how attending FHL may cause you additional financial hardship compared to remaining at your home campus (or your life situation if you aren’t matriculated right now). For example, leaving a job for the weeks you are here, paying rent on top of FHL housing, etc. Please include amounts if relevant. That’s it! Once you have been accepted to a course and confirm that you are still interested in attending, FHL staff will consider your request with other student requests and available funding in mind. You do not have to commit to a course and pay the deposit until financial aid is decided. Financial aid packages are based on a student’s merit and need, in addition to the availability of funding. Awards typically range between $1,000 to $3,000 for summer and $500 – $2,000 for spring or autumn quarters, although students with outstanding need are sometimes provided with more.

If you have any questions about that process, please reach out to FHL’s Academic Services Manager (fhlstudents@uw.edu).

Unfortunately, I haven't been home to grab the updated writing I did for the grant from my PC files (I stayed the night at my sister's yesterday night) but once I get home today I will knit it and push it out! Sorry!

I have successfully knitted and added the remaining paragraphs that I had! I think we will need to edit some of the repetition within the draft and definitely the concluding paragraph about why I should receive the aid, but I can work on it more extensively after my exams on Monday and Tuesday next week. Thank you Sarah!

Woooo! Great work! I'll send this to Jackie for a look-over and get her feedback for us.
