Hey :-)

This sounds super interesting. How is the whole gamification logic supposed to work?

Yes, it does! :D

-I am still thinking, but it would be like what we thought before--

  1. Landing page: A map which display all the amigo spots(Berlin, Taipei, Lagos-Nigeria). It's a sense of welcome all ppl to join us. And below is some introduction of this platform and amigos photos.
  2. Amigos page: This page display all the amigos, connect/ order/ group each other in a similarity of their skill trees/interests(Or it's dynamic once switch the condition, the order would change. PPl may find their partner by switch the condition). Somehow like this. Each dot is a amigo.
  3. Amigo's skill tree dashboard: ppl set their own "skill tree node" themselves. They add nodes, and then paste code snippets/projects links/tutorials( write by them )to the node. Once they add more nodes they get wizardAmigos coin(WAC)

Sorry for my vague description via texting. Hopefully I would have my design deliver soon. :)

This sounds cool. I think the "landing page" is not so necessary yet.

  1. I guess a landing page that shows spots would be more interesting in the future when we have more people who start traveling around :-)

  2. Regarding the Amigos page - yes we actually started a little project already - check it out :-) Maybe you wanna join us. https://github.com/wizardamigos/profiles/issues/5 ...we want to make another hangout

  3. The wizard amigos skill tree is super important. We have some plans for it, but we are not ready yet. I am implementing a nice require module and then i want to finish the workshop module - a whitelabel module to make new and more workshops. Then i want to make a codecamp module to easily make and host new codecamps and select workshops that people want and will work on ... and then we want to autogenerate the skilltree from all codecamps and workshop :-)

...i think it will take a few months to get there - but i can keep you updated. In the mean time we have and maintain https://github.com/wizardamigos/skilltree

The idea for the skilltree is that all kinds of people make their own codecamps and workshop apps with content ...and this is what fills the skilltree more and more automatically :-)

Got it, I'd like to join. Will make some design/code for profile card. Looks the autogenerate part is very challenging. May I get to know more about how to generate a amigo's skill tree for example?

Your sister is/was working on designing a profile card. What do you mean with the autogenerate part? :-) This sounds interesting.

Regarding the skilltree - i think it will get easier the more we formalize the workshop. It's a seperate project from the wizardamigos profiles linked above.

Regarding the skilltree - the idea is, that people specifiy completely new workshops that consist of 5-10 videos/articles/tutorials/materials that are embedded in a workshop app similar to the one we currently have (the workshop_app) ... I am working on a module - basically a workshop app ui component, where you can feed it a JSON that describes the learning materials and it generates the whole workshop_app page with your custom content.

...then, when we have a handful of workshop apps with different content - we also plan to split our current workshop app into multiple ones with less videos ...we can slowly "crawl" all existing worshop_app's and generate the skilltree from the JSON.

I hope i can finish this "white label workshop app ui component" in the next weeks. In the mean time, people who want to make their own workshop_apps with custom content can just FORK our existing workshop app
