[RFC] landpage redesign

redesigned landpage to be more visual.

Notes

• at the moment only "Events" and "Blogs" point to somewhere appropriate, the others "who we are", "become a sponsor", etc. point nowhere.

also I didn't dare removing text from the homepage, but ideally I think we should prune the long wall of text in the homepage as the info is (should!) be as easily findable by the highlighted names in the purple box and navigation bar

I think this looks great and I was about to merge (after testing locally) but we should:

• either add some success story (Aalto?), can be short, or otherwise it is weird we have nothing to point to
• become a sponsor -> a page where we write we are working on figuring something out?

Then I can help pruning and moving the text around.

I think the original idea for the success story part was indeed to point to an article about Aalto RSE, however it seems such article doesn't exist (yet)?

I added the placeholder page for the "become a sponsor". What about the "get involved"? Should I add a contact.md page which lists at least the coderefinery zulip and have both "contacts" in the navbart and "get involved" in the purple box point there?

Yes, that would be great! I think it was also the original idea about the "success stories". @rkdarst do you have anything about Aalto?

We also need to update our website to reflect the new association board, registration, etc. It would be nice to have something we can show for SeptembRSE Worldwide (September 22)

It may be easier to contribute with several other PRs. what do you think?

definitely! I also prefer more smaller atomic PRs rather than one big PR. I'll add a work-in-progress placeholder page for the success story soon(ish).

Yes I also prefer work in progress page and many small PRs. In other words I often prefer unfinished websites rather than unfinished PRs because the PR is too big.

What is the status of this PR, is it a draft or ready to go? (What does the RFC mean here?) The question is not here to stress anyone, I would really like to help but as long as this big pr is not merged, i do not quite know what to do 😅 So if there is anything still to do here before it can be merged where a website noob can help, please let me know :)

My suggestion: we merge and then repair the small problems with smaller PRs.
