So, basically, you just need to add a config on your web site and that's it: no code update is needed? Have you tested this?

Yes, I used it for my project inscoop. Before I uploaded that configurational file to the server, I had browser as a second option to open any link, and after I did this the app opens straight. But the app should be signed. So simple cordova run android will not work, have to sing it also
