Hi @nakshay :wave:
In order to ensure the problem is related to the Nord theme you need to reproduce it with a minimal and clean configuration. This can be done by creating new configuration file with any name (e.g. testrc
) and run vim with the following command: vim -u testrc
For me as a theme author it's not possible to know if the theme is the root cause of the problem when using such heavyweight configuration bootstrap/framework projects like the one you've used. It sets tons of configurations and loads many plugins where each line of code might break the theme.
Here's an minimal test configuration you can use to try to reproduce the problem (supposed you're using vim-plug):
call plug#begin(expand('~/.vim/plugged'))
Plug 'arcticicestudio/nord-vim'
call plug#end()
set nocompatible
if (has("termguicolors"))
set termguicolors
endif
syntax enable
colorscheme nord
Another guess from me is, based on your screenshot, that you're not using the required terminal color scheme in order to have Nord colors available. Please check out the official port projects and install the theme for your terminal. Looks like you're using macOS so the Nord iTerm2 or Nord Terminal.app should fit.
will check again with new configuration file.
@arcticicestudio, I downloaded the theme, I think that was missing but now in neovim it gives some overlay like below.
init.vim
if empty(glob('~/.vim/autoload/plug.vim')) silent !curl -fLo ~/.vim/autoload/plug.vim --create-dirs \ https://raw.githubusercontent.com/junegunn/vim-plug/master/plug.vim autocmd VimEnter * PlugInstall --sync | source $MYVIMRC endif
call plug#begin(expand('~/.vim/plugged')) Plug 'arcticicestudio/nord-vim' call plug#end()
set nocompatible if (has("termguicolors")) set termguicolors endif
syntax enable colorscheme nord
Looks like some color mappings are wrong. I've never really used Apple's bundled Terminal.app, and I thought such a app should support “true colors“ out-of-the-box (echo $COLORTERM
should contains 24bit
or truecolor
), but based on the well-documented and updated Gist about “Terminal colors“ the Terminal.app doesn't actually support it.
Could you please try again but remove the whole termguicolors
condition block so it uses the 16 ANSI base colors?
commented those line, now it works. Thanks.
Below is my neovim config. downloaded from http://vim-bootstrap.com/ and modified as per nord-vim readme.md
