Remote Speakers #51

I just realized a way to have 'remote speakers'. @metaskills and I experimented with this for @757rb but we ended up having a hangout issues.

One thing to do instead though is to watch a conference presentation that's been recorded and have a Q&A session with the speaker afterwards. Not sure if this something that you guys would be interested in but it literally just 'hit' me and I wanted to capture it somewhere

Plus my buddy @searls has recorded several good talks I thought this group might be interested in. Just a thought.

Are you thinking the Q&A would be online or in a hangout? We have a few training sponsors (Wintellect, PluralSight) who have offered to set up speaker Q&A's if we wanted to show any of their videos at our Meetups.

Q&A would be via GH our some other video chat app. The main issue we had with remote presenters was that

  1. The presentation ended up being a little awkward.
  2. Limited bandwidth on both sides contributed to a poor presentation experience.

I just figured we could steal something from online webinars where they essentially show a prerecorded video but do a live Q&A afterwards. Not sure if this would work or not. And I'd be willing to experiment with it for @757rb first to let you guys know the results.
