Each verse of the New Testament should have an apparatus. This feature has been requested by Prof. Robinson directly.

The main text should be the Byzantine primary line and the apparatus should include:

  1. The manuscripts where the verse is identical to the Byzantine text
  2. The Byzantine reading, followed by the manuscripts that support it, starting with Byz and then the individual manuscripts.
  3. Any alternative readings, followed by the manuscripts that support them
  4. The empty reading, followed by the manuscripts that support it. This one is a bit tricky because the INTF transcriptions don't always specify if a reading is missing because it is really not present in the manuscript or because the manuscript is fragmentary/lacunose. Therefore, this empty reading should clearly state: 'Either missing in manuscript or lacuna', so that readers do not think that if a reading is empty, it is necessarily because the scribe didn't copy it.
  5. Unclear: When a word is only partially extant and the transcriber supplied the remaining letters. In this cases, it is unclear what the reading is.
  6. The manuscripts that were ignored at that particular verse because they were too fragmentary (the determination of whether to include a manuscript or not is done at the verse level. If the verse is too lacunose, it is ignored.

To keep in mind:

Optionally, the apparatus should highlight those Byzantine readings that are not supported by the manuscripts in each collation.
