What kind of stats are these? I don't think the core ever attempts to draw something like that, looks like something RetroArch itself is doing, not the emu core?

Yes, sorry, they are new in 1.7.2

COMMON: Add OSD statistics for video/audio/core. https://www.libretro.com/index.php/retroarch-1-7-2-released/

Other cores that have not been updated recently (eg. FreeIntv) display them correctly.
