DPXC Editor Error: The object reference was not set to an object instance #8

After I added a little more than 25 records in the DPXC editor, the following error message (in German) appeared:

"Unbehandelte Ausnahme in der Anwendung. Klicken Sie auf "Weiter", um den Fehler zu ignorieren und die Anwendung fortzusetzen. Wenn Sie auf "Beenden" klicken, wird die Anwendung sofort beendet.

Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt."

After that I could not use the DPXC editor any more. After each click the error message appeared again. After restarting the program and reloading my DPXC file, the error message also appears again.

I have been using Windows 10 20H2 in a virtual machine (VirtualBox) with a Linux host.

In the meantime, I found an easier way to reproduce the above bug.

Describe the bug CorpusExplorer reports: "Unbehandelte Ausnahme in der Anwendung. Klicken Sie auf "Weiter", um den Fehler zu ignorieren und die Anwendung fortzusetzen. Wenn Sie auf "Beenden" klicken, wird die Anwendung sofort beendet. Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt."

"Unhandled exception in the application. Click "Next" to ignore the bug and continue the application. If you click "Exit", the application will exit immediately. The object reference was not set to an object instance."

To Reproduce

  1. create a corpus with the DPXC editor
  2. create some (e.g. 3) records
  3. save DPXC file
  4. close DPXC Editor and start it again
  5. open DPXC file again
  6. try to edit records or add new ones
  7. error message appears

Expected behavior Files can be saved and reopened and edited later. No error message should appear.

Desktop Windows 10 20H2 in a virtual machine (tried in VMware and VirtualBox) on a Linux host.

Update is now available. Please start the "CorpusExplorer" and accept all updates (includes DPXC-Editor). I hope this will fix your problem - if not: Please let me know.
