Gtx asus strix 970 won't flash back anymore #5

I flashed successfully my 970 to an evga sc bios but the oc performance was poor so I went to revert and it doesn't get past reading eeprom, nothing happens. I am not blaming anyone I am just wondering if anyone can figure it out because I got no errors Capture edit- I have found that drivers have started glitching out with it, msi afterburner no longer recognizes the card and gpu-z doesn't detect it either and sound disappeared but that's to do with the drivers Edit2- I have managed to get my card to flash to every bios apart from asus bios so if you have an asus card proceed with caution if its an older gen card

Hm, that's a concerning edge case. Must be something funny about the 900 series. Try turning on Compatibility Support Mode (CSM) in BIOS and booting into safe mode.

Also, when you run it, add -L flash.log and post the contents of flash.log

Try doing a non-flash command like -b backup.rom or --version

Gtx970user commented 1 year ago

This doesn't look right to me considering I'm having issues with the eeprom, its only part of the log and csm is already on. fds this is from the version bv cx

flash.log This is my log from my attempted flash EDIT- I've made an advancement, I've got drivers to mostly work but sound is still gone, but I've found I can flash to cards with the same board id as the evga card but cross flashing seems to be completely broken on my card edit2- Ive got audio to work

I have kind of fixed the issue and it turns out some Asus bios are locked so you can't flash or reflash them sometimes so I'm running a similar asus bios but just different release date

This is an interesting turn of things. Could we be more specific so I can figure out exactly what happened here?

  1. What card do you have? As specific as possible, down to purchase date if you can remember.
  2. What BIOS did you initially flash to it that caused issues and you wanted to revert from? (link if possible)
  3. What BIOS you attempt to flash back that did not work that prompted you to open this issue? Was this your backup or something from online?
  4. What BIOS did work in the end?

I have an asus strix oc edition, it was new second hand as everything even the box was in factory seal. I flashed an evga ssc acx 2.0 bios onto it due to it supposedly having amazing oc capabilities https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/177026/evga-gtx970-4096-150630 I attempted to flash back to the old bios in the backup I made and then trying to get it off the internet but neither will read to eeprom but strangely no errors. In the end I found different strix oc bios, made sure they had same clock speed, wattage, etc and then downloaded that and it worked but after that, the old one still wont flash Also I'm not doing anything wrong (at least I don't think) as I used nvflashk on my 1050ti and flashed to multiple bios and then back to the og one and it all worked fine

Sorry if this is off topic, which 1050ti do you have? I'm planning to flash a spare 1050ti I got, which is limited to 75 watts to something that allows me to OC better, was there any benefit after you flashed your 1050ti?

Gtx970user commented 1 year ago

I have a gigabyte single fan 1050ti and i flashed it to a single fan evga card, i can send the link if you want to try. I got an extra 100mhz on memory and 70mhz on core. The oc was 1000 mem and 250 core i think

Is there any more information that you want from this issue notfromstatefarm?

Thank you, I have already flashed an MSI vbios with a higher power limit onto mine, seems alright for now.
