Balinese musical symbols in Noto Serif Balinese would be very difficult to be used in typesetting Balinese musical notations due to the lack of monospace. Example below is a screenshot of traditional Balinese notation (right) and the same sample typeset in the font Pustaka Bali (left):
As shown in the image above, the ability to make the musical symbols in a perpendicular fashion is important for the notation. Same-spaced characters similar to tabular numerals - as opposed to proportional numerals - would thus be more appropriate in this usage. Below is a comparison of the same musical sheet set with and without tabular figures.
