@evanslove : are you referring to Unicode Character 'MODIFIER LETTER LOW LEFT ARROW' (U+02FF) ? or Unicode Character 'MODIFIER LETTER LOW DOWN ARROWHEAD' (U+02EF) or 'MODIFIER LETTER LOW UP ARROWHEAD' (U+02F0)? or 'MODIFIER LETTER LOW LEFT ARROWHEAD' (U+02F1) or 'MODIFIER LETTER LOW RIGHT ARROWHEAD' (U+02F2)?
All 5 listed above are by definition and by design low (in the image they are in order listed above).
If you had a different character in mind please let us know.
https://www.google.com/get/noto/#sans-zsym has much more complete selection of arrows.
It would be good to know the arrow, in any case.
In the phase 3 Noto fonts the arrows (excepting these defined to be low arrows) should be more consistent and vertically positioned closer to the middle of the cap height.
@moyogo : thanks for the reminder that we fixed low arrow errors in https://github.com/googlei18n/noto-fonts/issues/439#issuecomment-257550189 but we haven't pushed to the public yet
@evanslove : please use (if you can) fonts from https://github.com/googlei18n/noto-fonts/tree/master/alpha/from-pipeline/unhinted/ttf/sans (they have issues listed in bug 439 fixed)
Hi Marek. I compared the NotoSans arrows’ position to Apple’s SF chars. NotoSans arrow chars positions are very low as pointed out.
I liked to check the corrected arrow positions but the ver 1.902 fonts from https://github.com/googlei18n/noto-fonts/tree/master/alpha/from-pipeline/unhinted/ttf/sans is missing arrow chars. Would you like me to file the missing char issue separately?
@marekjez86 Is it expected not to have U+2192(→) U+2190 (←) U+2191 (↑) U+2193 (↓) in NotoSans and NotoSerif?

@evanslove what is the exact arrow unicode character you are referring to? Could you post a screenshot comparing with other fonts that have an arrow height you like? :)
